jenine + alex | seventh son brewery octoberfest wedding.

jenine and alex are very dear to our hearts, and we were so elated when they asked us to shoot their wedding. their octoberfest-themed wedding was laid-back, sweet and full of tarot-card reading goodness. jenine incorporated a german tradition of log cutting at the end of the ceremony, which put a whole different spin on the whole 'wedding bubbles' exit idea. and all of the details and overall aesthetic of the day was killer. nothing is more rewarding than documenting our friends' weddings. as if watching them say 'i do' wasn't enough, being their photographers we became their shadows and saw all of the moments and emotions of their day; all of the behind the scenes reactions, getting-ready butterflies,  the pure joy of seeing each other for the first time, the excitement of greeting friends and loved ones. it's an emotional roller coaster for them, and us.  and in turn, our photographs become more intimate and blur that boundary between private and shared.  this is as real as it gets.

katie + steve | german village, audubon center wedding.

oh my, we cannot wait to share these photos with you.  katie and steve's wedding last month was absolute bliss. from the hand painted signs and centerpiece details, to the moss encased letters and designer chairs at their sweetheart table, so much thought and planing went into their day. katie and steve's dream was to say "i do" under the mulberry tree at the audubon center (where katie volunteers), but rain kept the ceremony portion of their wedding indoors. thankfully, we were able to incorporate the tree into their portraits and it's also represented in a hand-drawn guest poster where everyone added their "leafy" thumb-print.  a few other notable items from the day: a guest appearance by the couple's dog, duke, and in lieu of a wedding cake, the couple went for a fresh waffle buffet, from a taste of belgium - a place they frequent on their trips to the north market.  and finally, their party favors -the heart-shaped 3D glasses - were a big hit with everyone at the wedding, and made for some fun dancing photos.

congrats katie and steve!  and thank you for having us document your beautiful day.
