oh my, winter's all gone and i barely had the chance to post on here! we've been busy traveling lately, a mini trip out to the oregon coast in february and wppi in vegas (with a day-excursion to the grand canyon, yippe!) earlier last month - a blog of that adventure coming soon, i promise! so, now that spring is finally here, time to get some blogging done. this wedding is one of our most sought after wedding sample books when we meet with clients these days. it's adorable, woodsy, rustic, with a winery twist. alicia and greg saw us at work at their friend's wedding the year before, and before we knew it we were meeting to discuss their big day. the day started out with a bit of rain, but in the end, it was a blessing because the filtered light and the post-rain high clouds gave us plenty of good filtered light to work with. we hope you enjoy this one!
it's so hard to keep up with the blog these days, but we're hoping to get more weddings on here soon! here's one from last year that came to us somewhat last minute, and it's become one of our personal favorites. this happened to be the weekend right after the insane wind storm that swept across the midwest, knocking out power for days... their venue, the alley park nature education center, was one of these places. but these guys toughed it out, got emergency generators and had one heck of a homemade wedding. it was one of the hottest days of the summer, but that didn't matter. as you can see, everything came together for a beautiful day. ps. how cool is it to get married under a historical covered bridge?
oh my, we cannot wait to share these photos with you. katie and steve's wedding last month was absolute bliss. from the hand painted signs and centerpiece details, to the moss encased letters and designer chairs at their sweetheart table, so much thought and planing went into their day. katie and steve's dream was to say "i do" under the mulberry tree at the audubon center (where katie volunteers), but rain kept the ceremony portion of their wedding indoors. thankfully, we were able to incorporate the tree into their portraits and it's also represented in a hand-drawn guest poster where everyone added their "leafy" thumb-print. a few other notable items from the day: a guest appearance by the couple's dog, duke, and in lieu of a wedding cake, the couple went for a fresh waffle buffet, from a taste of belgium - a place they frequent on their trips to the north market. and finally, their party favors -the heart-shaped 3D glasses - were a big hit with everyone at the wedding, and made for some fun dancing photos.
congrats katie and steve! and thank you for having us document your beautiful day.
